Spectacles of Light: The Magic Lantern as Popular Entertainment, 1810-1930

A könyv (szerk. Kurt Vanhoutte, Eleonora Paklons, Evelien Jonckheere, Leen Engelen) a kultúratudomány, médiaarcheológia és színháztörténet keresztmetszetében vizsgálja a laterna magica 19-20. századi népszerű vizuális kultúrában betöltött jelentőségét. Az emlékezetes képeknek, drámai történetmesélésnek és magával ragadó látványosságnak köszönhetően a vetítőeszköz egyszerre játszott fontos szerepet a tudományos kommunikáció, a meggyőzés és a tömegszórakoztatás médiumaként. A kötet szerzői a lámpás változatos történeteit a szórakoztatás és oktatás összefonódása, a transznacionális tudásáramlás, a színházi előadások és vizuális médiumok szempontjából vizsgálják.
